Sister Act

Everyone loves their relatives, but they don’t always take the time to see them. And although we love our sister store, Starlight Studios, just as dearly as any real sister, we haven’t really shouted much about her.

Starlight is an all in one photographic solution based in Kirkintilloch, Glasgow. From studio portraits, wedding packages and location shots, to gifts, jewellery and children’s parties, they do it all! They’ve been posting on their blog a fair bit recently about some of their amazing offers and gift ideas that they have, and we’re almost a little jealous of the heightened attention they’ve been getting!

It’s worth checking out the Starlight Blog, which is the first place to learn about their deals, and it seems they’re just about to post details of their amazing new season stock…so now is a good time to check it out!

Scone In 60 Seconds

Ah – the scone. Sometimes seen as the humble poor relation to other, fancier cakes – the domain of the elderly, or the stuck for choice. As with everything we do at D’nisi, we want to free scones from these shackles of assumption, and let them take their place rightfully alongside the very fanciest pastries we offer.

We’ve boasted of our core scones before (I wouldn’t dare call them our ‘standard’ ones) – baked fresh each day, with glistening plump sultanas or sweet cherry – but our Special scones this month are truly a sight to behold. For the savoury fans, the Italian comes packed with herbs and sundried tomatoes, with a cheeky topping of mozzarella for a delicious finish. But the true crowning glory goes to our Cranachan scones, back by mass acclaim…oats, raspberry flakes and a generous splash of milk make a creamy bite, bursting with flavour, with the right amount of crunch on the outside and soft give on the inside. Amazing with fresh cream and luxurious strawberry jam!

Let’s Hear it for the Tea

When it’s cold, the knee-jerk reaction is to go straight for the coffee. Psychologically, a big cup of steaming hot dark-brown coffee is as much a comfort to look at and smell as it is to drink. But sometimes you have your fill of coffee, and need something to refresh as well as heat.

Our tea selection has never been better. Not for us the grubby teabag of dubious provenance of some of our competitors; instead we have Taste Award Gold winners as part of our lineup!

Currently we offer the amazing Breakfast Tea, Earl Grey Blue Flower (which adds a hint of blue cornflower to the natural bergamot notes), Green Tea Sencha, the increasingly popular White Tea, Apple loves Mint (an unusual but very compelling combination), Mixed Berry, Peppermint, Camomile (a must for unwinding) and Darjeeling. So no matter how you’re feeling or what the day throws at you, we’ve got an amazing refreshing pot of goodness to make things better!

No Blues Allowed

So January is almost over. It’s widely held to be the most depressing month – post-Christmas, wallets are tight and spirits can be subdued – but hopefully with our great offers and new cakes we’ve done our best to move things on the up!
It’s an exciting time for D’nisi – our fifth branch opens in Stranraer in February, and we have some really big plans for the year ahead – so thanks go out to all of our loyal customers for coming out to see us even during this sometimes quiet and weather-unfriendly month! Keep posted for some more exciting news and offers soon…

In A Stew

Sometimes our images just speak for themselves. Feast your eyes on this amazing bowlful – rich chunks of tender beef, slowly cooked in Dorset ale with root vegetables (carrot, turnip and parsnip) and a generous portion of fluffy, creamy mashed potato on the side. It’s the undoubted highlight of our Specials list this season, and at only 417 calories its a winner on the waistline as well as the palate!
